WHAT KIND OF CHURCH ARE WE?
We are an Independent Christian Church which came out of the Restoration Movement of the frontier period of America. The Restoration Movement was fueled by the desire to call all followers of Christ to unity by simply returning to the Bible as our source of authority. We do not believe that man-made creeds are necessary as the Bible is complete in and of itself as a guide for our individual lives as well as church doctrine. We have no denominational hierarchy or denominational structure. Each church operates “independently” while following the leadership of the local church elders who look to the Bible as their source of guidance and submit to Christ as the Head of the Church. (Ephesians 1:22) We do not profess to be the only Christians but rather Christians only. Therefore, we choose to be called simply “Christians” rather than another distinctive denominational name.
HISTORY
Our church began in March 1999 with a group of 30 people. Don Hill was our founding minister. The first service was held in the show barn at Anderson Circle Farms. Over the first 6 years, the church has met at Harrodsburg High School, Burgin High School, Stone Manor Restaurant, and the Frank Bradshaw Building. Attendance grew from 35-105 over the first six years.
Greg Warren became the church’s second minister in August 2003. We began construction of the first building in 2004 and had our first service in June 2005. As the congregation continued to grow, we added a gym and classrooms in February of 2007. We continue to look for ways to reach more people with the Good News.
